Haruka meets up with Michiru in a music store and comments on her bouquet of flowers. Michiru bought them to celebrate 6 months of their new life together with Setsuna and Hotaru. At home, the apparently preschool-aged Hotaru is into more mischief after having finished all the books in the house. Her intellect far surpasses her visible age, even moreso than her actual age of 6 months since her rebirth.

Watching the young girl grow at such an excelerated rate makes them think they may awaken as Sailor Soldiers again. Months ago, Setsuna felt an enemy invade during the solar eclipse, but then found that she, and the others, could not transform to investigate.

Michiru gives violin lessons to Hotaru and some other children. When Hotaru plays, a ghost image of a pegasus appears, and then a like image of Rini following it. After the lesson ends, they discuss the eclipse again and how they lost their power, thinking they are no longer needed or wanted by their princess.

As she prepares for a bath, Sailor Saturn appears before Hotaru, explaining she is the power sleeping inside the young girl and then the Soldier fades away. Hotaru sees visions of the Sailor Soldiers battling as she sits in her bath and then the planetary symbol for Saturn flashes on her forehead. She gets up, now aged as much as she was before her rebirth. She goes out to Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna, telling them it is time to awaken, giving them each a new heart crystal. They go to join the others.

Mina still clutches Artemis' paw, but then feels a stronger grasp on her hand and looks up to see her partner in his humanoid form. He says that she couldn't transform before because he must not have been strong enough, and then hands Mina her new heart crystal and she transforms. Venus uses her new power to kill Xenotime and Zeolite and then runs to the others. The Amazones Quartetto is upset, but still entraps the girls in their vines.

Haruka and the others arrive on the scene, and transform, much to the surprise of the other girls and their enemies.

Back at the Tsukino house, Rini notices Bunny is getting ill, just like Darien. As she is setting off to get help, she and Bunny sense the presence of Hotaru and the others. Rini transforms and Bunny sends her ahead while she gets ready to leave. Once she sets off, Bunny runs into Darien outside. He quickly realizes her lungs are infected just like his, but she insists to join the battle and they head for the circus together.

Neptune explains to the others why they came back to fight the enemy. How they sensed the darkness covering the planet, making it into a dead place full of nightmares.

Super Sailor Moon arrives and sees and the dark moon, covered with blackness. Zirconia unleashes a spell that covers the prince and princess as Pegasus comes running up. The afflicted couple begin to shrink, turned into children. As Pegasus disappears with Darien and Bunny, the Amazones Quartetto run away. Sailors Saturn and Super Chibi Moon pursue them.

Saturn and Super Chibi Moon catch up with the Quartetto and begin fighting. Sailor Saturn yells at the girls to wake up to their true selves or die. They are being controlled by the dead, and their dreams are actually sad and not full of evil. Just as Saturn seems to be reaching them, Zirconia appears and traps the Amazones girls in gem balls. She then imprisons Sailors Saturn and Super Chibi Moon in mirror glass fragments. Zirconia takes the gems and glass pieces to the large mirror she uses to communicate with her queen and pushes them through the surface.

The entrapped girls all fall near the feet of Queen Nehellenia as the woman cackles with happiness.
