Casablanca Memory

On her way home from school, a boy stops Raye to give her red roses for her birthday. Bunny and Amy join her and she gives them the flowers. Once home, Raye finds a white dress and bouquet of casablancas, her favorite flower, waiting for her that was sent by her father. Bunny and Amy stop by later with their own present, a music box in the shape of a fountain that plays the song "Rain Tree."

That night, Raye meets her father, a busy politician, for dinner at the Rain Tree restaurant. His aide, Mr Kaido, is also with him. Kaido was a family friend since Raye was young and thought of him as an older brother. It was he who told her what casablancas were, and Raye eventually came to know her father's presents of these white lilies where picked out by Mr Kaido. Her last birthday, Raye's father was too busy for dinner, so she spent the time alone with Kaido and she began to think they were kindred spirits.

June begins the rainy season and everyone starts getting emotional and gloomy. Raye runs into Lita and they go to the Rain Tree restaurant. Lita talks of her past love and Raye thinks of Kaido. Soon after their birthday dinner alone the year before, she had seen him with another woman. She found out Kaido was engaged to her.

Raye continues to be emotional in the next days and a depression seems to have fallen over the city when she visits Lita one day. She finds Lita huddled in the corner, mutting. Hearing the sad sound of Lita's own fountain music box playing "Rain Tree," Raye smashes it, sick of the song. Lita snaps out of her stuper and Raye senses an evil spirit in the smashed box, transforming into Sailor Mars. She hears the "Rain Tree" behind her and turns to see the pianist from the restaurant playing it in front of a giant fountain music box. The pianist explains it is made from human emotional energy and she is draining the entire city. She tries to play off of Raye's emotions, but Mars is strong and does not dwell on the past. She uses her attack to destroy the evil spirit. The rainy season ends and the city goes back to normal.
