Exam Battle 2: Amy's First Love

Amy goes to school early, as usual for her. When she discovers a love letter slipped into her locker, the stress causes hives to break out all over her face.

Later that day, Amy heads home. She looks through her copy of the national practice exam scores only to find that her score, listed under her pen name "Mercury," is still tied for first place with someone using the name "Mercurious." Amy is determined to find this person, and defeat her self-proclaimed arch-rival. So, she decides to go register for another prep class.

A few days later, Bunny, Mina, Raye and Lita are at the Fruit Parlor discussing Amy. Her flushed continence and the twinkle in her eyes lead the girls to believe Amy is experiencing her first love with her so-called nemesis. They determine to find out who this Mercurious is, Bunny asking Melvin if he knows anybody with that pen name. Melvin is actually friends with him, and takes the girls to meet him after his prep school.

Amy goes to her new prep class, which is held in a very old building. She falls asleep during class, exhausted by her intensive study regimen. When she wakes, Amy stumbles home, muttering about Mercurious. A spirit immerges from the building, named D. Zire, and thinks Amy's preoccupation as symptoms of love.

In the morning, Amy makes her way to school, but is still not feeling well and collapses. Bunny and Lita find her and bring her to the nurses' office. The nurse finds Amy only has a cold and prescribes rest.

Left alone, the spirit D. Zire immerges and attacks Amy with love letters. The girl genius feels her studies draining out of her brain and in her foggy state thinks the enemy is her rival, Mercurious. She transforms and, without even seeing the spirit for what she is, destroys D. Zire and passes out again.

A couple of days later, Amy meets Mina and Bunny at the Parlor and overhears they met Mercurious. The blondes then claim he looks like a pop star upon Amy's questioning, but in reality Mercurious really resembles Melvin.

Reading the next set of national practice exam rankings, Amy is dismayed to find she and Mercurious are once again tied, which frustrates her as she thought he had already been defeated!
